It is very important to clean your shower tile. Here is a complete guide on how to clean shower tile in three efficient steps.

how to clean shower tile

Have you ever struggled to try to remove stubborn soap scum from your shower tile? It happens to the best of us, but some ways make cleaning shower tiles less of a challenge for all of us.

How to clean shower tile without the hassle you may be wondering? Wonder no more, and continue reading this article for some valuable cleaning tips to help you get your shower tile to look new.

How to Clean Shower Tile

Soap scum can be difficult to remove from your shower tile once it has built up over time. What happens is mineral deposits attach themselves to the tile and continue to collect a hard layer of soap scum over time.

The more layers that collect on your tile, the harder it can be to cut through the scum and remove it from the walls. However, the steps we have explained below will remove the scum in no time.

1. Use Some Heat

Since soap scum can be challenging to remove, we recommend using the heat from hot water to warm the shower. You should run the water and close the shower door to seal in all of the heat and steam.

Because the heat is trapped inside of the shower will give the soap scum a chance to soften. Making it easier to remove the scum from the wall.

2. Vinegar Mixture

Typically when you research household remedies, vinegar is at the top of the list and rightfully so. With the acidic properties in vinegar, it can be used for a variety of things.

Simply mix the vinegar with water and then spray the mixture onto your tile. Let the mixture sit for about 15-30 minutes and then using a scrubbing brushwork in a circular motion to remove the soap scum from the tile.

3. Baking Soda Works on Tough Scum

Another best way to clean shower tile is by using baking soda. Not only will baking soda help to remove any odor that may be present in your shower, but it will also remove stains that have been left behind because of the soap scum build-up.

You need to mix equal parts of water and baking soda together to form a thick paste. Then take the glue and apply it to the stains you'd like to treat as well as between the tiles.

Allow the mixture to sit for 5-10 minutes, and you'll notice that it may begin to bubble. Then choose an abrasive brush to remove the soap scum and stains from the tile and the grout.

If you can't easily remove the scum from the grout it may be time for grout replacement.
